The Inaugural Logan Martin LakeFest and Boat Showwas held Saturday and Sunday, June 4th and 5th 2011, at Horizons in Pell City. Vendors, Sponsors, and Attendees alike all had overwhelmingly positive feedback for the event, which was a fundraiser for the LMLPA.
“As far as we’re concerned, the weekend was great. We got to interact with a lot of people, we’ve gotten new members, and we’ve gotten people to sign up to volunteer for water monitoring,” said Mike Riley, vice president of the Logan Martin Lake Protection Association.
Riley said the event drew several thousand attendees over the course of two days, and the LMLPA was able to share information with a lot of lake-dwellers.
“A lot of people didn’t even realize the LMLPA was here,” Riley said. “Everything came across real good. We had a good crowd, all the boat dealers did real well, and hopefully we’ll get a substantial amount of money to help the fish, habitat and wetlands project.”
Lakefest organizers told LMLPA that they’ve learned a lot from this year’s event, and have already begun the process of soliciting input from attendees, vendors, and sponsors to make the event even better next year.
The financial outcome of Logan Martin LakeFest is still being finalized. Organizers will attend the July 21 Annual meeting of LMLPA to present the check for the amount raised.
