In case you missed it, the Daily Home ran two articles this past week on the 2011 Lake Clean Up efforts. In the coming days, we will publish the official tonnage from Veolia. Here are some cool stats though:
- We had between 500 and 600 Volunteers, over 70 which registered on www.lmlpa.org in advance.
- Numerous clubs and organizations pitched in to help, including Realty Executives, Birmingham Sail Club, the local Key Club and local Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops.
- The raw tonnage removed is likely lower than last year, thanks largely to previous efforts and ongoing stewardship and education. The lake is staying cleaner!
